Ronu and Nathan Lee to perform in Wolverhampton

Next Saturday (February 6th), Ronu Majumdar will perform for audiences at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton.

Ronu Majumdar’s performances have been described as captivating and explosive.  He plays the Shank Bansuri flute which was brought into the fold of Hindustani classical music barely half a century ago.  In 1996, Majumdar received a Grammy nomination for his work on the album Tabula Rasa with Bela Fleck, an American banjo player.

Hindustani classical music has its origins in the 12 century AD and is Northern India’s most prevalent export in music with spreading popularity in  Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan.

Also performing on the night is Nathan Lee. His combination of flute and beat boxing has been noted as pioneering in the Indian classical music genre.
